It's Time to "Fall Back" Again!
If you live in the USA or Canada, Daylight Saving Time 2013 ends on November 3 at 2:00 am – which means we "fall back" and gain an extra hour of sleep! So be sure to adjust your clocks before you head off to bed the night before.
If you have a Chelsea Clock Ship’s Bell or other mechanical clock, you can adjust the time by placing the black “stop” plug into the key wind hole to stop the clock for one hour, and then remove it. If you own a pendulum clock, simply stop the pendulum for one hour and then restart it. Or, for both types of clocks, you can simply move the minute hand (the long hand) slowly backwards using your finger.
If you have a quartz clock, do not attempt to move the minute hand backwards with your finger – this can damage the quartz mechanism. Rather, use the setting knob on the back of the quartz mechanism to adjust the time accordingly.
If you own a quartz striking clock, first turn off the chimes with the green thumb wheel shut-off, then use the setting knob to turn the hands back one hour.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us. And enjoy the extra hour of sleep this weekend!
